Coffee with My Soul: A Gentle Practice to begin a day with intention

Have you ever craved a moment of quiet--a pause to check in with yourself before the world rushes in? Sometimes, with our frantic lives and emotional upheaval, we don't take time to nurture ourselves. Instead we eat, we drink, we avoid.

This is about creating a sacred space---I call it, "Coffee with My Soul."

It's not about coffee, really although a warm comfy drink helps. It's about sitting with yourself the way you'd sit with someone dear to you--curious, compassionate, and fully present.

During a major life transition, a change of jobs, an illness, a breakup, we can lose touch with our inner selves, our inner truth.

This gentle ritual helps bring you back to what you need and what you're wanting. It brings you back to you. And, you don't need an hour. Just 5-10 minutes, a little stillness with a lot of self-kindness. Take a few slow breaths and ask yourself some or all of the following:

  • "How am I, really?"

  • "What am I feeling right now?"

  • "What is one small act of kindness I can offer myself?

  • "What do I need today?"

You may want to write your answers down--without filter or to fix, just listen.
